Florence M. Coleman is one of thirteen siblings who grew up in the Southern Piedmont Region of Virginia in Halifax County. She is a lifelong learner with a Master of Education degree and a Master of Divinity.

She is a retired educator after serving in the public and private schools, community colleges, and as a GED Instructor in the Correctional System,  a career spanning over twenty-five years dedicated to fostering mindfulness and curiosity in every student.

Her work is known for its heart literally. She includes a small heart on the pages of her books to encourage readers to find mindfulness in their daily lives.
